Sonia Furstenau calls on all parties to defend reproductive healthcare

VICTORIA, B.C. - Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Greens and MLA for Cowichan Valley, is calling on all provincial party leaders to immediately affirm support for reproductive rights in British Columbia. This comes in response to growing concerns about potential federal encroachments on abortion access.

"As a province, we must stand together in support of women’s healthcare, including access to all forms of reproductive care," said Furstenau. "At this critical moment, as we witness disturbing restrictions to abortion access in the United States, it's essential that David Eby, Kevin Falcon, and John Rustad take a clear stand. With regressive developments at the federal level, we must strengthen our support for reproductive healthcare.

MLA Adam Olsen celebrates milestone in B.C. reconciliation efforts with release of Reconciliation Action Plan

BC Greens respond to Ottawa’s approval of B.C.’s drug use restrictions

VICTORIA, B.C. - Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Greens and MLA for Cowichan Valley, has issued the following statement in response to Ottawa's approval of B.C.'s request to restrict public drug use under the decriminalization pilot project:

"The Coroner’s report on unregulated drug deaths was released this morning, and we are painfully reminded that we continue to lose six British Columbians a day. We are over seven years into this public health emergency, and this government is still not implementing urgent, evidence-based solutions. That's a glaring failure.

BC Greens to reintroduce bill restricting the use of NDAs

VICTORIA, B.C. - Today, Sonia Furstenau, Leader of the BC Greens and MLA for Cowichan Valley will reintroduce legislation to make it illegal for employers and other organizations to misuse non-disclosure agreements (NDAs) in cases of harassment or discrimination. 

“Non-disclosure agreements are too often used as gag orders, enabling the concealment of harmful behaviors. It’s time that we put an end to this practice," said Furstenau.
