Why is my personal information required to make a donation?
Answer:

There are two reasons why we require your contact information:

  1. In order to issue and mail your income tax credit receipt, we need your address. We also require your phone number so that we can contact you in the event that we cannot deliver your tax receipt at the address supplied. Perhaps you have moved, or our records are incorrect.
  2. All BC political parties are required by law to disclose the name of every donor who contributes $250 or more in a single calendar year.

You do not have to supply your email address, although it helps us keep consistent records for your benefit. Subscription to email blasts is also completely optional.

Who can donate to the BC Greens?
Answer:

According to BC provincial law, political contributions can only be made by eligible individuals. An eligible individual must meet both of the following criteria:

1) Is a resident of BC

2) Is a Canadian citizen or Permanent resident

How much can I donate to the BC Greens?
Answer:

According to BC provincial law, an eligible individual can give a total of $1,401.40 per year to a political party, it's candidates and any registered party riding associations.

Additionally, convention tickets do not count towards your yearly political contribution, unless the purchase totals more than $250. Admissions to BC Green Party events do not contribute to your yearly political contribution, as long as the admission does not exceed $50, if not, the payment of that charge is a political contribution.

You can also give a maximum of $1,401.40 to each independent candidate and to each leadership contestant in relation to a leadership contest called after 2017.
