On March 28, 2022, the BC NDP and BC Liberals spent about an hour debating who has done more for the fracked gas industry in BC. 

The BC Liberals put forward a motion for a new fracked gas export industry and the BC NDP refused to vote yes or no on the motion. In this case, silence tells us all we need to know. 

Fossil fuels like LNG have no place within the budget of a province that is taking the climate crisis seriously. It's time to ditch LNG investments and fund the transition to clean energy. 

Tell the government it's time to stop funding fracked gas.

In 2020-21 BC’s NDP-led government spent $1.3 billion on fossil fuel subsidies — 8.3 percent more than the previous year — and they are now more than double what they were when Premier Horgan’s NDP took power.

In 2020-21, the NDP government spent more subsidizing fossil fuels ($1.3 billion) than it did on its climate change program ($1.1 billion), a trend that is predicted to increase dramatically through 2024.

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released a new report on February 28, 2022 that warns climate change is harming the planet faster than we can adapt.
